Shiv vs Yamato

Brawler vs Assassin

You have the health; they have the burst. Make them fight you long — every second past their first combo is in your favour. Buy defensive items early and stay near allies.

Your game plan as Shiv

A dirty fighter who bleeds you, defers his own damage and finishes you with an execute.

How to beat Yamato

A blade who commits fully — and refreshes everything when she does.

• 01Wait out Shadow Transformation; she’s invincible at first.
• 02Dodge Power Slash’s charge.
• 03Burst her after the all-in.

1. 01Farm is close (-3.6 last hits per match), so trades decide this lane, not last hits.
2. 02Yamato looks for burst windows. Don’t sit in lane at low health, and ping the moment they disappear — they’re hunting.

  Early point

Put an early point into Slice and Dice: Yamato can drag you out of position, so keep a way back.

• Shiv averages 1.16 kills per death against Yamato.
• Shiv finishes 47 souls behind Yamato on average — play for teamfights and scaling rather than lane kills.
• Shiv deals 692 less objective damage per match than Yamato — let teammates take structures while you hold.
• Track Shadow Transformation (160s cooldown). The window right after Yamato uses it is your best time to fight.
