The ranks

As of Ranked Season 1, the ladder runs Initiate, Seeker, Acolyte, Sentinel, Mystic, Ritualist, Emissary, Oracle, Phantom, Ascendant and Eternus, each with subranks I to VI. Before you've finished calibration you sit in Obscurus. The full breakdown, including how Rank Points and calibration work, is in our ranks guide; to get into Ranked at all, see how to unlock Ranked.

Play fewer heroes

Two or three heroes you know deeply beat ten you know a little. Learn their exact cooldowns, power spikes and worst matchups — every hero page and matchup page has them.

Talk less, ping more

Ping enemy positions, objectives and your intentions. Typed arguments lose games; a ping on the Mid-Boss wins them.

Review your deaths

  1. Was I visible on the minimap for an enemy I couldn’t see?
  2. Did I fight into a power spike I could have seen on the scoreboard?
  3. Did I leave a wave pushing into my Guardian?
  4. Was there an objective I could have taken instead?

Stop after two losses

Tilt is the most expensive habit in ranked. Two losses in a row is a good moment for a break.
