Deadlock Bible

Privacy policy

Last updated

Deadlock Bible is a free, unofficial Deadlock fan site at deadlockbible.com. You can read everything without an account; Steam sign-in is only needed to publish, vote on or report community builds. We don't sell personal data. This policy explains what is collected when you visit or sign in, how advertising works, and the choices you have.

What we collect

We don't ask for your name, email or any other personal details. When you visit:

  • Analytics: we use Google Analytics to see which pages get read: page views, referrers, approximate country, device and browser type. We never send it your name, email or any account details, and Google Analytics doesn't log or store IP addresses. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland it sets no analytics cookies until you agree in Google's consent message; without consent it sends only cookieless, anonymous signals. Elsewhere it uses first-party cookies (see the Cookie policy).
  • Server logs: pages are delivered by Amazon Web Services (S3 and CloudFront). Like any web host, CloudFront receives your IP address, browser user agent and the page requested. These logs are kept for a short period for security and abuse prevention, then deleted.
  • Local storage: a few settings saved in your own browser (theme, your MatchEdge draft, which patch you've seen, whether you've dismissed our Discord prompt). They never leave your device. See the Cookie policy.
  • Steam sign-in (only if you use it): your Steam ID and the public name and avatar on your Steam profile, plus the builds you publish, your votes, your reports and the builds you save as favourites. Details below.
  • Discord online count: the site shows how many people are online in our Discord server. Our server fetches that number from Discord, not your browser, so nothing about you goes to Discord unless you click a Discord link.
  • Advertising: Google AdSense serves the ads on this site and may collect data as described below.

Steam sign-in and community builds

Signing in with Steam is optional and only needed to publish, vote on or report community builds. Steam tells us your Steam ID; we never see your Steam password or email. We store:

  • your Steam ID, so we know which builds, votes and reports are yours;
  • the public persona name and avatar on your Steam profile, shown next to the builds you publish (refreshed from Steam about once a day);
  • the builds you publish, your upvotes and downvotes, any reports you send, and the builds you save as favourites (up to 500), with the time of each.

We use this only to run the feature: show your builds under your name, count one vote per account, stop spam and abuse, and act on reports. It isn't used for advertising and isn't shared with Google or anyone else. The sign-in cookie is listed on the Cookie policy.

If you sign in, we also set a small flag cookie that holds only “1”, so the site knows whether to check your account, and keep your Steam name and avatar in your browser's session storage until you close the tab. Both are listed on the Cookie policy.

Your account data is kept while you use the feature. A build you delete is removed straight away. To have your account, builds, votes, reports and favourites deleted, email privacy@deadlockbible.com with your Steam profile link; we'll remove them within 30 days. Builds from Deadlock's in-game build browser are already public in the game and are shown here with their author's Steam name and avatar, which Steam shows to everyone, even on private profiles. If one is yours and you'd rather we didn't show your name, email privacy@deadlockbible.com.

Advertising and Google AdSense

Ads keep Deadlock Bible free. They are served by Google AdSense.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices or, in the EU, at www.youronlinechoices.eu.

Learn more: How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland see Google's consent message (from a Google-certified consent management platform) before personalised ads or advertising cookies are used. Visitors in US states with privacy laws see Google's US state regulations message, which lets you opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising.

The same choice covers Google Analytics: where consent is required, analytics cookies are set only after you agree.

You can review or change your choice at any time: . The same link is in the site footer.

Game data sources

Hero, item and match statistics come from deadlock-api.com and are aggregated across many matches — we don't publish any individual player's data. Hero artwork comes from The Deadlock Wiki. Details in the methodology.

Children

Deadlock Bible is not directed at children under 13, or under 16 in the EU and UK, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, the UK GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you, to object to or restrict processing, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.

Apart from short-lived server logs, the only personal data we hold is what Steam sign-in stores (see above), and only if you've signed in. Ask at privacy@deadlockbible.com for a copy or to have it deleted. For data collected by Google for advertising, use Google Ads Settings or the consent choices above, or contact Google via the Google Privacy Policy.

International transfers

The site is hosted by Amazon Web Services in the United States (us-east-1), and advertising is provided by Google, which may process data in the US and other countries. These providers use safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers from the EEA, UK and Switzerland.

Google Analytics data is processed by Google in the same way.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles data, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top. Translations are machine-generated; if they differ, the English version applies.
